Encouraged actions: WSOS offers more than scholarship funding! These opportunities are designed and proven to support your academic success and career development. They are optional and do not affect your scholarship funding or eligibility.

Your first year as an Opportunity Scholar
Required actions
- Deadline: Spring (we’ll email specific deadlines in advance)
- Complete the Renewal Process
- Submit the FAFSA/WASFA
Encouraged actions
- All year
- Access your campus career center
- Check your WSOS emails for updates and exclusive opportunities
- If assigned a Scholar Lead, stay engaged with them
Increase your scholarship funding
- Every Scholar is assigned a Major & Credit Verification (formerly known as an Award Increase Request) deadline. Once you’ve earned 90 quarter or 60 semester credits and been accepted into a WSOS-eligible major, submit a Major & Credit Verification through the Scholar Portal. You don’t need to wait until your deadline to submit. Once approved, you’ll receive increased funding beginning the following fall term and won’t need to submit another Major & Credit Verification.
