Today, businesses across the state of Washington are eager to hire people in STEM, trade, and health care jobs. But, we have a critical shortage of skilled workers in these high-demand fields.

This is where WSOS comes in.

Washington is full of bright, driven students — especially those from low-income backgrounds, rural communities, and communities of color — who want to pursue high-demand careers. But systemic barriers stand in their way: the rising cost of education, limited access to mentors, and a disconnect between what students study and the jobs available in our state.

Thousands of young people across our state are motivated and capable of pursuing higher education and are eager to enter these fields.

Additionally, according to the Washington Roundtable and Partnership for Learning “Skill Up for Our Future” report, 75% of all job openings will require postsecondary credentials by 2032. If we are to continue to thrive as a hub of innovation and economic growth, we must act now to ensure the next generation of Washington students is prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.

By investing today, we all win tomorrow.

The power of community:
WSOS is a win-win-win.

Students gain the education they need to access high-demand, living-wage jobs.

Businesses gain a workforce filled with diverse, high-level talent.

And, our entire community grows from a healthier, more prosperous economy.
