Yoko Shimomura is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience aligning people, systems, and strategy to drive mission and measurable impact. Her background includes leadership roles in corporate, philanthropic, and nonprofit sectors. As an independent consultant, she helps mission-driven organizations strengthen their strategy and operations.

Previously, Yoko served as Chief Operating Officer at Washington STEM, a statewide education nonprofit, overseeing strategy, finance, HR, IT, and communications. At the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Yoko was a Deputy Director, where she guided enterprise change initiatives and helped establish the organization’s headquarters. She also served as Chief of Staff to the COO, acting as a key advisor while strengthening alignment between leadership, staff, and strategy in support of the foundation’s mission. Earlier in her career, she served as Vice President of Corporate Services at Washington Mutual Bank, overseeing aspects of real estate, facilities, and technology operations. A fourth-generation Seattleite, she integrates equity, humor, and empathy into every aspect of her work. She helps organizations thrive through disciplined execution and inclusive culture.
