Description:
The Allen Institute’s Summer Internship Program is an intensive summer experience designed to provide mentorship and research experience for associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree students who are interested in furthering life sciences research or science-support and administrative careers.
Interns will learn and gain experience working for an organization dedicated to Big, Team, and Open science. This can include participating in research that can lead to publications and presentations as well as contributing to an overall scientific mission through administrative or technology roles. Allen Institute offers a unique community in which to see, support, and engage with science in action.
Open Roles:
Summer Intern – Brain Science / Spatial distribution of neuropeptide signaling in the mouse brain
Summer Intern – Brain Science / Backend Software Engineering Intern – Data Provenance
Summer Intern – Brain Science / Community adoption of multi-species brain atlases
Summer Intern – Immunology / Human Antigen-Specific (CMV) T Cell AIM Assay Development
Summer Intern – Brain Science / Connectomic mapping of human white matter at single axon resolution
Summer Intern – Brain Science / Characterizing microtracts in dense nanoscale neuroanatomy data
Applicant Requirements
- Must be enrolled in, or a 2025 graduate of an accredited associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program
- Must be able to start on either June 9th or June 23rd, 2025 and commit to the full 10-week program
- Must be eligible to work in the United States for the duration of the internship
- Must be 18 years of age or older

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Interns are expected to work 35-40 hours a week throughout the 10-week period
- This role is currently able to work both remotely and onsite in a hybrid work environment. We are a Washington State employer, and the primary work location for all Allen Institute employees is 615 Westlake Ave N.; any remote work must be performed in Washington State.
