The Surgical Technologist Residency Student is a student who has not yet completed an accredited Surgical Technology program (CAAHEP or ABHES) but is able to perform tasks in the surgical setting under the delegation of authority of a licensed health care practitioner and a staff Surgical Technologist preceptor. Surgical Technologist Resident Students will function as a clinical student during their program clinical experience. This experience will be educational, and the student will not function independently. The primary duties are outlined in WAC 246-939-030.
Required Qualifications:
- Washington Surgical Technologist Registration upon hire.
- 1 year - Currently enrolled in a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited surgical technology program and has completed program-specific lab skill checkoffs.
Preferred Qualification:
- Starting the Washington Registration Process prior to being hired

Position Responsibilities:

Required:

Job Summary
Responsible for operating autoclaves and other equipment to clean, decontaminate and sterilize instruments and equipment, including power equipment as applicable. Also responsible for inspecting and assembling instruments, trays and packs.

Considerations for Applicants:
Students must have a strong background and interest in one of the following fields: neuroscience, biology, chemistry, mathematics, medicine, behavioral health, public health, or a related STEM or biomedical field.
Ideal candidates are interested in pursuing graduate studies in a biomedical or public health field, or medical studies. Students must be able to reside in or near Seattle during the summer internship.
Undergraduates graduating prior to the program start date are not eligible. Those in graduate school or medical school are not eligible to apply.
This program is intended to support students whose background is historically underrepresented in the biomedical and health sciences.

About the Position
If you like working outside and are interested in salmon ecology, this opportunity may be for you!
The King County Department of Natural Resources, Water and Land Resources Division seeks a seasonal Environmental Aide to assist with environmental monitoring and applied studies that support salmon recovery efforts. This position is in the Watershed and Ecological Assessment Team within the Science and Technical Support Section. The position will primarily support an experimental study of juvenile salmon growth and diet, along with a study of juvenile salmon use of tributary streams. This position may also assist with fish sampling and aquatic habitat monitoring of salmon habitat restoration projects in local rivers and streams. Other duties may include fish exclusion for project construction and kokanee salmon conservation. This work will will inform our salmon recovery actions in the future. Staff work independently and in teams with experienced fish ecologists. This role is primarily field-based but will also involve data entry and other office-based tasks. This position would be a good opportunity for a college student or recent graduate or someone interested in gaining experience in aquatic ecology.
The position duration is approximately 6 months, starting February 17 and ending in August. King County will provide all necessary personal field gear (waders, safety equipment, etc.), a computer, and a vehicle to travel to field sampling locations.
Work Schedule
The work schedule for the seasonal Environmental Aide (Short Term Temporary position) will typically be Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, 40 hours per week. You must be able to commit to working 40 hours a week during the entire period to be eligible for consideration though there will be flexibility for vacations. This is an overtime eligible position that is subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Work outside of business hours may be required.
Work location
This position will predominantly work remotely and at various field monitoring sites but may also attend meetings at the King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St, Seattle WA 98104).
Hourly Rate: $23.88/hour
Primary Duties include:
- Independently monitor and maintain fish enclosures containing juvenile salmon, including solo transportation, site visits, and working near/in streams and rivers.
- Assist with collection of juvenile salmon and other fishes using dipnets, fyke nets, seines, and electrofishing approaches with guidance from senior staff.
- Assist with measurement of physical habitat and environmental attributes in streams and rivers; and assist with collection of invertebrate samples in streams and rivers.
- Record data in the field and enter data into databases and spreadsheets.
- Handle juvenile salmon and collect physical measurements.
- Tag juvenile salmon using elastomer tags or passive integrated transponder tags with guidance from senior staff.
- Help coordinate field trips and site visits.
- Interact with the public and answer questions about our studies.

Primary Responsibilities
As a Shop Technician, you’ll use our tech to create, assign, and monitor work orders, track machine service intervals, order parts, and diagnose issues faster by pulling data from hundreds of makes and models. With real-time information at your fingertips, you can determine the root cause and corrective action for each issue quickly, enabling you to work smarter, not harder.

The Maintenance Mechanic plans and performs work that requires thorough knowledge of mechanical and electrical or electronic principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, principles of operation and the application of electrical or electronic equipment such as motors, switches, control boards, generators, circuit breakers, electronic inspection units, etc. Working knowledge or experience in install, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of HVAC equipment, machinery, and processes. Maintain accurate records involving installation, maintenance, repairs and upgrades. Assist Facility Team members with additional duties.
- Troubleshoot & Perform repairs on bag machinery and support equipment as directed by maintenance supervisor.
- Comply with all safe work procedures when performing tasks, such as but not limited to Lock Out / Tag Out, & Confined Space.
- Repair machine defects found other than scheduled when discovered.
- Report any machine defects identified during repairs that cannot be corrected to Maintenance Manager.
- Maintain proper housekeeping on the job site.
- Improve skill level either by training or on the job experience.
- Be a team player, assisting fellow mechanics or other employees requiring help.
- Work required overtime to complete repairs of down equipment.
- Strive to perform work in a timely manner, reducing machine down time to a minimum.
- Maintain a “zero defect” attitude and perform repairs once.
- Ask questions if not familiar with the repair or procedure.

BRI offers college undergraduates the chance to expand their learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom through its in-person Summer Internship Program. The 8-week internship offers top-achieving and highly motivated science students the opportunity to work and learn under the mentorship of BRI's renowned researchers. The 2025 summer internship will run from June 23rd – August 15th, 2025.
This position is for 20 hours per week and will be paid $20.76 per hour.
Responsibilities
Interns will:
- Be assigned to a research laboratory for the duration of the internship
- Work directly with a mentor in the lab to perform experiments and/or analyze data
- Attend laboratory-specific meetings
- Attend and participate in organized educational programs with other summer interns, including journal clubs, seminar series, and roundtable discussions
- Present research findings at the end of the internship at a research symposium
Qualifications
- Enrollment in a college or university with completion of at least one year education at this level, though preference will be given to students that have completed at least 2 years of college coursework by the start of the internship
- Entering the summer internship BEFORE the final year (or semester/quarter) of undergraduate studies
- College coursework in the sciences, preferably in biology, is required
- You must have authrization to work in the US. This internship is not eligible for visa sponsorship
