We are so excited to welcome Veronica Craker to the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship team as the new Communications and Marketing Manager!

1. Why did you choose WSOS? What excited you the most about WSOS?

I chose to work at WSOS because of the organization’s mission to help low- and middle-income students in Washington State achieve their academic and career goals. I am excited about the growth I see happening at WSOS and what that means for Scholars.

2. Tell us about yourself. What pathway brought you to WSOS?

My pathway to WSOS has been shaped by my experience working in marketing and communications at two universities,  as well as my passion for education and helping students succeed. As a first-generation college student, I understand the power of education and the importance of providing equal opportunities to all students.

3. How does your job impact Opportunity Scholars?

My role impacts Opportunity Scholars by helping to raise awareness of the scholarship program to donors and connect more students with the resources and support they need to succeed in their academic and career pursuits.

4. What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy gardening and playing games with my family as a way to relax and unwind.

5. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?

I moved to the Pacific Northwest from West Texas and if I could live anywhere in the world, I would still choose to live here. The region’s natural beauty, with its rugged coastlines, majestic mountains, and lush forests, is unparalleled, and the vibrant culture and diverse communities make it a wonderful place to call home.
