To be considered for the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) for the 2017-18 academic year you must complete each step below. Click here for a printable version of this checklist. To view the checklist in Spanish, click here.

  • Submit the WSOS Application by Wednesday, February 28, 2017 at 5 PM, PST. Be sure to leave yourself enough time to complete the essay question.
  • Mail your official high school or college transcript that includes fall 2016 grades. Transcripts must be postmarked by Tuesday, March 7, 2017. Make sure you request a transcript at least a couple of weeks in advance so that it can be postmarked by the deadline.

    Enrolled in high school – If you have not yet graduated from high school, you must submit an official high school transcript, showing all of your classes through fall quarter/semester 2016 and it must include your cumulative GPA.

    Running Start student not graduated from high school yet – If you are a Running Start student, you will need to submit an official transcript from your high school (not college). Check with your high school to ensure that your Running Start credits for fall quarter is included.

    Enrolled in college/university – You must submit an official transcript from the college/university where you are currently enrolled, showing all of your classes through fall quarter/semester 2016. It must include your cumulative GPA. If you have attended more than one college/university since graduating from high school you will need to submit an official transcript from each college/university you have attended.

    Graduated from high school, but have not yet enrolled in college – You must submit an official high school transcript.

    Graduated from high school, attended college, but not enrolled fall quarter/semester 2016 – You must submit an official transcript from each college you have attended since graduating from high school. Please include a note indicating that you were not enrolled fall term.

    Received your GED, but have not yet enrolled in college – You must submit a copy of your official GED score.

    Please note that unofficial transcripts, transcripts without fall 2016 grades, and transcripts that are not postmarked by Tuesday, March 7, 2017 will not be considered.

  • Complete and submit the FAFSA or WASFA by Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
