Receiving your scholarship
Every August, while you are an eligible WSOS recipient, you will receive an email confirming that amount of award you will receive per term, and the college or university where the scholarship funds will be sent.
Your scholarship check will be sent directly to the financial aid office at your college at the start of each term. Your scholarship award amount will be equally divided over the number of terms you are enrolled at your college or university. Your college will receive the funds on the following dates and terms:
- Fall Quarter/Semester: August 14th, 2017
- Winter Quarter/Spring Semester: December 18th, 2017
- Spring Quarter: March 5th, 2018
Please allow processing time for the college/university to apply the scholarship to your student account. In some cases, the funds may not be applied to your account until after the start of the term.
You will not be dropped from classes if the funding isn’t in your account on the first day of class. Please follow-up with the financial aid office at your college or university to determine when the scholarship payment will be applied to your account.
You must meet all the requirements of the scholarship in addition to meeting your college’s Satisfactory Academic Progress policy in order for your college to award you the funding.
Your scholarship will be awarded as follows, based on the amount of funding for which you are eligible. This amount will be communicated to you via email in August.

If you are not enrolled at a minimum of six or more credits when the college applies the funding to your account at the start of fall quarter, your scholarship will be forfeited. However, you will be able to re-apply for the scholarship as a new applicant the next year if you meet all of the application eligibility requirements at that time.
If you are planning to enroll in six-11 credits for fall, winter, or spring term, please log into the Scholar Portal and submit a “Change in Enrollment” form. This will avoid any delays in your scholarship payment. Please note that in order to receive a partial scholarship disbursement you must be enrolled in at least six credits.
We will automatically send the funds to your college/university if you are approved to receive an increase to your scholarship. Please log into your Scholar Portal to check the status of your increase.
